A native Puerto Rican, Wilka Roig works in photography, performance, and installation. Wilka received an MFA in 2005 from Cornell University where she lectured until 2009, receiving the 2008 Merrill Outstanding Educator Award. She is a NYFA MARK 2009 artist. Wilka was Vice-chair of Ithaca's Public Art Commission, and served in jury panels including NYSCA Grants, Art in the Heart Program, and the Center for Photography in Woodstock's A-I-R program. She was Prize Juror for State of the Art 20th Annual in Ithaca, NY, and Main Street Gallery's National in Groton, NY.

Wilka exhibits regionally, nationally, internationally. She received grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Community Arts Partnership, Cornell Council for the Arts, and Light Work. Her work is featured in NYFA Immigrant Artists Project Newsletter issue forty-seven, Nueva Luz Photographic Journal, Vol 3:13, Photography Quarterly #98, Camerawork: A Journal for Photographic Arts Vol. 34 No. 2, and Contact Sheet: Light Work Annual 2004. Solo shows include Center for Photography, Woodstock, NY, and CEPA Gallery, Buffalo, NY. Group shows include Women to Watch 2008, National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C. and The Spitting Image, SF Camerawork, San Francisco, CA.
