EKR MXC, along with my personal vision and mission, has a lot in store to evolve our loss, grief, and end-of-life culture in the Central México region and beyond. Stay tuned!
I host Death Cafés regardless of quorum. During this time of social distancing, we will have online Death Café on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month, 1-3PM CST México. We have changed the time so our friends in other parts of the world may join.
This is an open, online, live event, donations are welcome (PayPal: info@wilkaroig.com, USD if possible). Donations help cover cost of Zoom plan, professional group facilitation, and other pro bono services I provide to our community.
The Death Cafe IS:
• a space to meet simply as people who are going to die
• a gathering with no intention of leading participants to any conclusion, product or course of action
• an open, respectful and confidential space where people can express their views safely
• tolerant and reverent, honoring all views with equanimity
• open to and respectful of people of all communities, all ages, all belief systems
• a frank discussion alongside tea, coffee, and baked goods!
The Death Cafe is NOT:
• a bereavement support or grief counseling setting
• for advice giving
• for people who, for whatever reason, are not able to discuss death comfortably and openly
• an opportunity to give people information about death and dying
• for profit
• for networking or promoting a business, service, or product
• for handing out business cards or promotional materials
• a method of community engagement, research or consultation
Bring an open mind and an open heart along with your questions and contemplations about aging, loss, grief, mortality, dying and death.
“The nature of the group connection facilitated by Wilka reminds of how much heart can be present in these events. I am grateful to her and our Death Cafe friends for this beautiful opportunity to be more with one another, to be with myself in ways which I have not previously known. It is so ripe!”

“I feel so at-home in the community birthed and nourished by Wilka. With its feet on the cobblestones of San Miguel de Allende, our community has expanded to other parts of México, South America, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Canada, and the U.S. Wilka’s loving arms extend far and wide, holding us together, yet allowing each person to grow in expression in his or her own way. The sense of love and appreciation for each person that shines through Wilka allows our connections to each other and to ourselves to be discovered and to deepen. How does she do it? She IS it. Engaged herself, she does not hold herself separate. Yet there is always a clarity of her knowledge, experience and commitment to human consciousness and end-of-life issues. Wilka cares deeply about fostering the life that makes it possible to talk about dreams and death.”
